Air & Duct Sealing

Air duct sealing is a critical way to ensure that the indoor air your family breathes is pure. As your heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system runs day after day, it draws particles of dust, pollen and other allergens into the ductwork. These irritants build up over time and eventually begin leaking into your home environment through a number of gaps and openings in your system’s air ducts.

At Gunner Insulation, we offer state-of-the-art duct sealing services, using a patented process that allows us to seal metal ductwork, sealing ducts on cooling and heating systems and effectively preventing the dirt, dust and other debris from contaminating the living areas of your home. At the same time, the powerful seal prevents heat and cooling loss through the same openings that release the airborne contaminants into your home.

Reducing the amount of air that leaks in and out of your home is a cost-effective way to cut heating and cooling costs, improve durability, increase comfort, and create a healthier indoor environment. Caulking and weatherstripping are two simple and effective air-sealing techniques that offer quick returns on investment, often one year or less. Caulk is generally used for cracks and openings between stationary house components such as around door and window frames, and weatherstripping is used to seal components that move, such as doors and operable windows.

Air Leakage

The recommended strategy is to reduce air leakage as much as possible and to provide controlled ventilation as needed. Before air sealing, you should first:

- Detect air leaks
- Assess your ventilation needs for indoor air quality.
